Rarely, but once in a while, there is an opportunity to volunteer some of your time and talent at Ganado Glory Temple Ministries on the reservation.
Most of the time the church needs some repair. You can arrange your visit by sending me an email.
It's better if your group is small. That's because the Navajo Christians at Ganado usually feed the people who come. They do that because they want to get to know you, and build relationship. They want you to come back.
Be prepared to sing, and or give your testimony. You will have some spiritual input - not just physical. The Navajo Christians want that.
The church building at Ganado is equipped with showers and a dining facility. Groups usually "camp out" with their sleeping bags on the floor of the sanctuary.
Canyon de Chelly (see Photo next page) is nearby for those who want to do some sight seeing, hiking, picnicing, or just play around in the shallow stream that runs through the canyon. Thunderbird Lodge at the entrance to the canyon has an excellent cafeteria.
