Who You Are - In Christ
1. When you become a Christian, your entire identity changes. The name "Christian" actually means "one who is in Christ, and has Christ in him." That's awesome! Jesus lives in you. The Bible says "I will live in them, and walk around in them." (2 Corinthians 6:16) That changes you at the core. You are a new creation. The biggest part of this change is that you no longer live for yourself, but for Him who loved you, and bought you with His blood. (see 2 Corinthians 5:15) You can do that because when you are saved, you have His Holy Spirit living in you.
Consider the lowly butterfly. Before it was a
butterfly it was a fat mushy caterpillar. But then,
by a miracle, it was changed. Somehow it
became a butterfly; a thing of beauty and grace that can soar over mountains. Scientists know that the head of the caterpillar became the head of the butterfly. The thorax (chest area) of the caterpillar became the thorax of the butterfly and so on. BUT where did those wings come from? No scientist can tell you that. Just so, in Christ you are a new creation.
