The Promises of God
1. The whole Bible is a love letter from God to you. Someone has said there are more than 70,000 promises of God and each one of them is a personal valentine to you that is signed, "Love, God."
2. The promises of God are for every Christian. Here are just a few of them...
- wisdom from God: If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5
- abiding peace: "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you." John 14:27
- complete forgiveness: Who forgives all your sins. Psalms 103:3
- wonderful healing: Who heals all your diseases. Psalm 103:3
- perfect justice: The Lord executes righteousness, and justice for all who are oppressed. Psalm 103:6
- salvation: Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved, you and your household. Acts 16:31
- eternal life: In hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began. Titus 1:2
- great honor: If any man serves me, him will My Father honor. John 12:26
- freedom: If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed, And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:31-32
- all your needs met: And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
- protection: No weapon formed against you shall prosper. Isaiah 54:17
- peace for your children: All your children will be taught of the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children. Isaiah 54:13
- secure future: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
- answers to prayer: And whatsoever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son John 14:13
- covenant love: I will never leave you, nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5
- fullness of joy: In Your presence is fullness of joy. Psalm 16:11
- revival: If My people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then i will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their land. II Chronicles 7:14
3. Many of these promises are conditional, but many are not. The ones that are conditioned upon something from us, also come from God's love. He uses these promises with our prayer life to disciple us. As we are discipled by these promises we walk deeper and deeper into His love - and become more and more like Him - for He is love.
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, II Peter 1:2-4
The nature of God is love.
